HIS Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors, yesterday stressed on the steps being undertaken to carry out repairs at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
He hoped that they would be carried out immediately, so that the Yayasan Complex would remain an iconic building that the country can be proud of, apart from attracting more businesses and visitors.
“At the same time, I also want to know the current status on the amount of rental dues, and the measures being taken to address it,” said His Royal Highness in a sabda delivered during the first meeting of the Yayasan Committee of Governors for 2019 at the Prime Minister’s Office.
He highlighted the approved budget allocation amounting to BND20,969,852.00 for the 2019 financial year, reminding all parties to always practise prudent spending with a focus on achieving the main objective of giving aid to those who really need it.
His Royal Highness also commended the Yayasan Board of Director’s resolution in creating a ‘sinking fund’ for the purpose of preserving assets or upgrading facilities as a good strategic step, while adding that it should, however, be systematically and objectively designed to avoid any kind of wastage.
Among the other topics raised by His Royal Highness was the issue of Kampong Bolkiah that came up during His Royal Highness’ working visit to the village in October last year, where the residents raised the issue of damaged housing conditions due to termite attacks among other factors; and what steps Yayasan would be taking to repair the village conditions, including dealing with the complaints being raised, as well as ensuring the residents’ sense of solidarity in equally safeguarding and restoring the village.
Meanwhile, on audit issues, His Royal Highness was pleased to find that the Yayasan Board of Directors has ratified and approved the audited accounts by independent auditors for the years ended 2014 and 2015, while expressing the hope that every management of Yayasan would continue to multiply the efforts to meet the institutional needs associated with the matter.
The final topic His Royal Highness touched on was the 100 per cent passing rate achieved by the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School in the Primary School Assessment (PSR) 2018, which is hoped to motivate the spirit of constant improvement in excellence, while also redoubling efforts for the improvement of any weaknesses in the aspects of learning and administration within the school management.
“I believe there are still many things to be worked on, before we can turn the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School into a Centre of Excellence that we have all wished for,” said His Royal Highness.
The issues were addressed by the Minister of Defence II and Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, during a meeting.
Also present at yesterday’s meeting were Deputy Chairman I of the Yayasan Committee of Governors Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar; and Deputy Chairman II and State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, together with the members of the Committee of Governors Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong and Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
