WITH the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Chief of Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi bin Buang was conferred with the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Honorary Pilot Wing in recognition for his services in advancing ties between the RBAirF and the RMAF.
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud presented the award to General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi.
The Chief of the RMAF was recently in the country for the presentation ceremony and for his introductory visit to the RBAirF.
Upon arrival at the RBAirF Base, he was received with the honorary salute by a guard of honour comprising personnel from the RBAirF, followed by the RBAirF Honorary Pilot Wing Presentation.
The Chief of the RMAF also paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and strong relationship between the air forces. The RBAirF and RMAF interact regularly through a broad number of exchanges and exercises, which have deepened the mutual understanding and camaraderie between the two air forces.
He also paid courtesy calls to the Commander of the RBAF and the Commander of the RBAirF Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat.
General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Affendi was appointed as the Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force on December 21, 2016.
