CIC Environmental Services Sdn Bhd (CIC) became the first Brunei company to receive the ISO 45001: 2018 Occupational Health and Safety management certification from Bureau Veritas Brunei in association with Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS – UK Branch.

The certification, officially handed over to CIC on February 12, covers all CIC operating sites in Kuala Belait and Seria.

The new ISO 45001:2018, published in March 2018 by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), provides distinct directives on good practices in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. It emphasises the prevention systems and companies’ commitment for the continuous development of a culture of prevention. It bases its focus on the co-participation of workers and managers in guaranteeing safer and healthier work environment.

The new ISO 45001 standard replaces the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard, the previous accreditation under the Health and Safety at Work management.

In addition to this, CIC also successfully renewed its ISO 14001 certification to the latest 2015 version focussing on Environmental Management System.

With over 20 years of experience, CIC is a leading professional hazardous waste management company listed under the Ministry of Development and Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe). It specialises in hydrocarbon and chemical hazardous waste management services to various industries in Brunei Darussalam including oil and gas companies, public and private sectors, and other industries.
