Eight local climbers bound for Everest

EIGHT climbers left for Kathmandu, Nepal to climb in the Everest Region on February 14.

The climbers are set to return on March 2.

The climbers, led by Haji Othman Haji Kamaluddin, are Zaharah Karia, Vincent Lim Siang, Rozabella Junaidi, Amalinah Abdullah, Farhkhan Johan, Abdul Wafi Jamil and Mohd Syahrin Othman.

The climbers will trek for nine days ascending Phakding to Kala Patthar, at an elevation of 5,550 metres.

The participants trained mostly at Shahbandar, Tasek lama and local gyms since September 2018.

The climbers will be at the Everest Base Camp on February 23 to celebrate and hoist the Brunei National Flag at the base at an elevation of 5,364 metres.
