YOUTH members of the Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme (PBCTA) participated in the hoisting and handing over of national flags at the Belait Youth Association (PEMBELA) Building along Jalan Maulana, Kuala Belait last Saturday.
The ceremony was held to help instil patriotism among PBCTA members in preparation for the 35th National Day celebration.
Penghulu of Mukim Belait and Acting Village Head of Kampong Pekan Kuala Belait Haji Pungut bin Ali handed the national flags to the 14 participants of the ceremony comprising current and alumni PEMBELA members.
The flags were presented to him by the Head of the Youth and Sports Department in the Belait District Gaung Jamit.
The ceremony was also an opportunity for the PEMBELA youth to celebrate the National Day while fostering love towards the nation within PEMBELA members.
The ceremony started with the hoisting of the national flag accompanied by the singing of the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan followed by the Penghulu of Mukim Belait and Acting Village Head of Kampong Pekan Kuala Belait handing the participants the national flags to be handed to selected residences.
The participants visited eight residences located near Jalan Maulana to hand over the national flags, as well as to aid in hoisting the national flags where possible, all of which served to further instil patriotism in celebrating the 35th National Day.
