JERUDONG FC registered their first victory of the season in the DST Premier League with a 4-1 win against Seri Wira FC at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.

A Seri Wira player had Jerudong FC’s Yansen Effendi breathing down his neck and succumbed to the pressure though without any fatal implications as the ball hit the side-netting.

While the naivety of defending proved to be a close call for Seri Wira in avoiding a probable setback, Jerudong had no such luck as Awangku Mohd Alimuddin bin Pengiran Jamaluddin hacked down Mohd Hairol Mizan bin Rasit for a clear penalty. The fouled victim made no mistake from the spot to earn his side a minute lead.

Seri Wira were dealt an injury setback after Mohd Rasul bin Abdul Rasheed’s premature end to the match.

Yansen exhibited fine glimpses with the ball in a move which culminated in Jerudong captain Amir Mamduh bin Momin firing his shot wide.

Seri Wira were awarded a penalty after Muhd Arif bin Ali Rahman tripped Yansen who was certain to score in the box.

The defender was shown the yellow card for his troubles and to make matters worse Micky Anak Gindi tucked home the penalty with conviction.

Seri Wira missed the chance to restore the lead after a player could not get sufficient power to trouble Jerudong goalkeeper Fardhilah bin Haji Mohd Ali.

Seri Wira’s trickster Mohd Arif utilised space with his trickery before setting up a shot which flew just over the bar while on the other end Amir Mamduh unleashed a fierce drive into the safe hands of Seri Wira goalkeeper Awangku Mohd Zulazim bin Pengiran Jamadil.

Yansen was a busy customer chasing balls and pressuring defenders and his excitement got the better of him after he was yellow carded in the 29th minute. But he hit the right notes when he lifted his team with a brace in the 58th and 86th minute with Syazwan bin Sahrin’s goal sandwiched in between.
