Top Japan university offers advanced courses

BRUNEIANS looking to further their studies in a top-ranking university that is well known for ground-breaking and advanced research can explore the opportunity to study at Osaka University in Japan.

Osaka University is ranked No 1 among universities in Japan and No 32 in the world in the Nature Index 2017 Innovation.

The university is also ranked No 2 among universities in Japan and No 34 in the Reuters Top 100 World’s Most Innovative Universities of 2017.

In addition, Osaka University is ranked No 1 in Plant and Animal Science, No 2 in Chemistry and No 5 in Immunology in a highly cited research by Clarivate Analytics’ Most Influential Scientific Minds for 2017.

Representatives from the acclaimed university showcased its post-graduate courses at the Higher Education Expo 2019 at the Bridex Hall 2 in Jerudong last weekend.

Professor Quamrul Hasan of Osaka University’s Centre for Global Initiatives said, “We want to promote Osaka University on its strength of research and advance research in medical and engineering post-graduates courses, which set us apart from other universities. Significant post-graduate courses are in the English language.” Graduate English programmes for Master’s Degree/PhDs offered by Osaka University include the Biotechnology Global Human Resource Development Programme; the Chemical Science Course; the Quantum Engineering Design Course; the International Programme of Maritime and Urban Engineering; the Global Science and Engineering Course on Electric, Electronic and Information Technology; the Special Programme of Engineering Science in the 21st Century; and the Information Technology Special Course.

Professor Hasan also disclosed that Osaka University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
