A FULL dress rehearsal for the parade and performances for Brunei Darussalam’s 35th National Day took place yesterday morning, an activity that saw the participation of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel, who was representing Jerudong International School (JIS).
Some 25,000 participants representing 147 teams will take part in the National Day parade tomorrow at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin observed the practice performance alongside several Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.
The staging of the performances, carried out under the scorching sun, was segmented into two parts: a National Vision (Menjayakan Wawasan Negara) portion carried out by 7,335 students and personnel from the public and private sector, and a Visionary Generation performance executed by 1,035 individuals comprising students from primary schools, the National Service Programme (PKBN), uniform cadets and other participants.
“The performance is beautiful, perfect, lively and filled with a spirit of patriotism today,” Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan said following the practice session. “Today’s performances are not the best yet, I know that the best performance will be on February 23, 2019.
“I am confident that the performances on February 23 will be excellent. I would like to thank all the participants and instructors who have demonstrated a high spirit of patriotism in their performance.”
