A HEAVY air of nationalistic pride could be felt in the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday, as scores of patriots gathered to celebrate the country’s independence day.
The buoyant mood of the celebrants was well and truly in full swing, but a few local companies did their part to lift it even higher. Among them was DST Group. The telco, led by Acting Chief Executive Officer Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni and 200 employees, held a series of activities for the public such as online and offline giveaways, and also distributed free water and DST merchandise such as hand-held fans to the gathered crowd.
Some 19 McDonald’s Brunei staff also gathered during the mass parade to distribute Sausage McMuffins to members of the public as part of the company’s social corporate responsibility initiatives. This is the third year since 2017 that McDonald’s has distributed food during the National Day celebrations.
Some 350 pieces of its limited-edition umbrellas were also handed to the public.
Staff of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Brunei meanwhile dispensed a total of 500 cups of its special iced tea to thirsty revellers, part of the company’s annual Caring Cup initiative.
Darussalam Assets and InfoCom Federation Brunei also took part in the activities.
