CELEBRATORY decorations appeared on buildings and street lights in the heart of the capital with the iconic yellow flag flying high to mark Brunei Darussalam’s 35th National Day.
Also a crowd-puller this year are the six National Day giant hashtag panels (murals) #nbd35 decorated with paintings by 39 talented young artists located at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
The #nbd35 has over 4,000 posts on Instagram as of press time yesterday with more posts in other popular social media sites expected in the coming few days.
Local artist Wan Mayang on his social media post thanked all artists and the public for participating in this amazing project initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Fellow artist Ainan was excited to display her colourful artwork on the giant panels for the auspicious day. In her social media, she commented, “Happy 35th National Day, Brunei! I am beyond blessed to have been born and raised in this beautiful country.”
Meanwhile, another artist by the name EzzanAfiqah said in her social media post, “Just a tiny contribution for the 35th National Day. A huge achievement just before turning 17”.
Nazurah Usop of @doodlesandcolours in her social media post commented, “Three hours of sleep, 30 minutes of nap on the plane back to Brunei and managed to get this done about eight hours non-stop,” accompanied with a photo of her with the giant panels.
Another talented artist, Jay M Johar commented, “Glad to have contributed,” showing a picture of a giant red hashtag that he painted with the help of other local talents. The comment section was pouring with congratulatory messages from his friends and fans alike.
Members of the public also made use of the opportunity to take photos with the giant panels and post them on social media websites.
A member of the public, Faiq Airuddin said, “Congratulations to all 39 artists involved in these amazing #nbd35 panels. All the pieces look vibrant at Yayasan Complex and really add to the atmosphere.”
A twitter user HavLee posted, “A must to take photo at the #nbd35 logo.”
The giant #nbd35 will once again be on display today during the cycling event at Bandarku Ceria in conjunction with the 35th National Day celebrations.
Another popular hashtag yesterday was #HK35 (35th National Day) which has received almost 7,000 posts on Instagram and Twitter as of press time yesterday.
