THE curtains for the four-day Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) open day were officially raised by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin yesterday.
The event opening, at the college’s premises, also saw the minister launching the college’s Learning Management System (LMS) Pilot Project, new website, and 5th Vibe Arts and Multimedia Design Art Exhibition, which showcases the final year projects of the college’s degree, diploma and certificate students.
The minister also officiated the inauguration of the college’s Business, Marketing and Communications Centre (BMCC).
Besides marketing KIGS and its programmes to prospective students and the public, the open day serves as a platform for the public to critique and evaluate the college students’ final year work.
It also allows the students to build contacts with industry and gain access to employment opportunities, with industry stakeholders and related agencies setting up booths at the event and assessing the students’ work.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by opening remarks from KIGS CEO Dr Haji Azaharaini bin Haji Mohd Jamil and the playing of a KIGS corporate video.
The minister launched the open day and presented certificates of participation to exhibitors before inaugurating KIGS’ new BMCC and touring the exhibitions organised by the college’s faculties.
The BMCC acts as an incubator to help students gain business confidence, acting as a centre for them to market their products and services. It will also serve as the college’s communication centre, with information on KIGS’ programmes, activities, students and other data being made available to the public.
The minister was also invited to launch the KIGS LMS Pilot Project along with the new KIGS website and 5th Vibe Arts and Multimedia Design Art Exhibition.
He also appeared as a guest on the college’s Campus Live Radio.
The KIGS open day, themed ‘Towards an Innovative Culture’, will close on March 3.
