30 Prisons Dept staff honoured

THIRTY staff received awards in recognition of their excellent service and contribution during the Prisons Department’s 65th anniversary celebration yesterday.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong as the guest of honour presented the certificates and awards to the recipients.

One of the recipients, Prison officer Zulhilmi bin Haji Bakri under the Information Technology, Public Relation and International Affairs Division said, “After all the hard work, it finally pays off being awarded. I feel honoured.”

He added, “This award, motivates me to work harder in hopes of making the Prisons Department one of the top notch departments under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs.”

Meanwhile, Female Warder 631 Pengiran Siti Sahanorazimah binti Pengiran Haji Shaharuddin from the Female Prison Institution who has been working in the department for 15 years also received the excellent service award.

She said, “This is my first award and I am very thankful for acknowledging my hard work all these years. This award will definitely push me to be a better employee.”

Pengiran Siti Sahanorazimah highlighted, “The most important quality at the workplace is honesty and it comes from the heart. This will be reflected in our performance.”

Chief Prison Officer Kadir Abdul Malik bin Hassan of the Reintegration Division also received the excellent service award.

“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the Prison Department for the award. I would like to thank the acting director and staff. It is very meaningful,” he said.

Also present were members of the Legislative Council and senior officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as officials from the Prisons Department and other government agencies.
