THE International School Brunei (ISB) celebrated Brunei’s rich historical and cultural heritage as they hosted a series of assemblies throughout the school in conjunction with the 35th National Day yesterday.
Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah binti Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah participated in the Joget Seri Kenangan.
Five separate assemblies, each catering to a different key stage group, featured students of the Malay language learners in primary and secondary.
The students were encouraged to wear yellow and black colours or baju melayu as a display of patriotic spirit.
The event began with the opening address by ISB Primary Principal Darren Sibley who reminded the students of the significance of the occasion.
“As an international school, ISB places a strong emphasis on tolerance and acceptance of all cultures, especially those of our host country, Brunei,” said the Primary Principal.
The event proceeded with the singing of the Brunei national anthem, followed by performances of Brunei folk tales, traditional songs and dances.
