THE Information Department of the Prime Minister’s Office held a dialogue session for Mukim Gadong ‘B’ residents yesterday at Sumbangsih Bahagia in the Beribi Light Industrial Complex II.
Chaired by Acting Director of Information Hajah Noorashidah binti Haji Aliomar, the session was attended by village heads from the Mukim Gadong ‘B’, senior officials, officers and staff from various government agencies, village consultative council members, mosque committees and worshippers.
The goal of the town hall meeting was to provide the village residents the opportunity to raise issues they are facing with the government agencies so that appropriate action can be taken.
“The programme is an activity where the government represented by various agencies holds a dialogue session with grassroots leaders in the community to deliver and explain issues relating to public problems, as well as share and disseminate official government information,” Hajah Noorashidah said.
“This is required in Islam; matters or issues that arise shall be discussed through consultation.”
The dialogue programme is not a new initiative by the government to forge closer ties with the community.
Formerly known as the Goodwill Information programme, it is one of the Information Department’s annual activities held in mukims in all four districts throughout the country.
Hajah Noorashidah added that the programme was revived in 2015 after a Legislative Council member suggested restarting the programme during the Legislative Council session that year.
The programme has also been held in Mukim Sengkurong, Mukim Pengkalan Batu, Mukim Kilanas and Mukim Bukit Sawat so far.
