SOME 200 Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Companies employees were honoured for their personal and professional achievements at an event at The Empire Hotel & Country Club yesterday.
Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein was the guest of honour.
Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Dr Ceri M Powell, members of the leadership teams and board of directors of the respective BSJV Companies as well as senior government officials were present.
Dr Powell emphasised that the people are and always will be the greatest asset for BSJV Companies.
“Tonight’s event provides the opportunity to reflect on the partnership forged between the companies and their long-serving staff, especially, on what we have achieved together.
“I want to emphasise the ‘we’ here, as the companies would be nothing without your hard work and dedication. It is your continued efforts and support which have allowed us to overcome challenges, grasp opportunities and deliver amazing outcomes,” she added.
She also noted that the 184 employees has contributed 5,675 years of service to BSJV Companies which is equivalent to 11.8 million man-hours worth of innovation, perseverance and sacrifices.
Meanwhile, one of the long-service award recipient, Musa Idris, 59 shared his experience and journey over the past 40 years and how he saw BSJV Companies grow.
His career took him to Nottingham, and then to several offshore and onshore operations in Brunei.
“Our success was not just luck. We all worked hard, persevered during hard times. Continue to learn, strive to excel, and above all be passionate with what you do to help the company and contribute to the nation,” he said,
He urged that employees of the BSJV Companies to perform their duties in accordance with the demands of the country adopting values of honesty, integrity, respect and excellence.
The event concluded with the presentation of the long service awards by the guest of honour.
