THE Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) through its Dakwah Dissemination Division held a paddy harvesting activity and get-together session with Muslim converts in the Tutong District.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof was the guest of honour.

Also in attendance were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Umarali bin Esung, PDI Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, PDI Assistant Director Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar, Tutong Head Religious Officer Haji Jaya bin Haji Yahya, Penghulu of Mukim Ukong and Kampong Bukit and Kampong Long Mayan village heads.

Also joining the activity were officers and staff of the PDI and Tutong District Dakwah Unit.

Prior to the harvesting activity on the plot of a paddy field belonging to Mohd Abas bin Abdullah Aping’s family in Kampong Bukit, the event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa.

Following the harvesting, the activity proceeded with the paddy threshing at Mohd Abas’ residence at Jalan Bang Ligi in Kampong Bukit, Tutong District.

The paddy threshing machine was provided by the PDI for the villagers’ use.

The afternoon activity then saw the presentation of the Brunei Darussalam Rice (BDR) seeds by the guest of honour.

The activity served to support Muslim converts in upgrading their economy through the agriculture sector and to strengthen ties among the villagers and the PDI.

The involvement of Muslim converts in the sector indirectly answers the call of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to take the agriculture sector as the nation and country’s sustainability while at the same time uplift the nation’s effort towards the implementation of Vision 2035 to achieve a dynamic and strong economy.
