MINISTER of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar accompanied by senior officers from the Ministry of Health (MoH) attended the 4th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety from March 2 to 3 in Jeddah.
Twenty-three health ministers and representatives from 42 countries and non-government organisations (NGOs) including the World Health Organization (WHO) attended the summit organised by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health.
The summit was chaired by Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr Tawfig AlRabiah.
Among the health ministers attending the summit were Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Germany Sabine Weiss; Vice-Minister for Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan Dr Yasuhiro Suzuki; Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of United Kingdom Jeremy Hunt; and Director-General of WHO Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham in a dialogue session shared the initiatives and achievements of the Ministry of Health of Brunei Darussalam in ensuring the safety of patients including the establishment of quality, governance and innovation departments, and the National Quality and Patient Safety Committee (NQPSC) as well as usage plans on online incident reporting system in promoting and enhancing the patient safety culture amongst the members of Ministry of Health.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham and delegates also had a bilateral meeting with Dr Tawfig AlRabiah during the summit and exchanged information as well as discussed cooperation.
