ELEVEN participants from the Innovative Visionary Youth Programme (PIBB) have begun the Phase Two of the ‘21st-Century Skills Basic Training’ programme at Politeknik Brunei (PB), which ends on April 27. The induction day event was held at One Stop Centre, Politeknik Brunei.

The PIBB is a collaboration between the Community Development Department (JAPEM) of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and PB. The programme aims to strengthen the identity and minds of children of monthly welfare assistance recipients, and to improve their skills so that they have a better chance of gaining employment and better equipped to face life’s challenges.

In PB, the youth will learn skills such as Microsoft Office skills, communication skills, entrepreneurship and other modules. The participant are paired with a PB student who will assist as a mentor.

Guest of honour was Head of Academic Programme of Politeknik Brunei, Pengiran Haji Muhammad Sufri bin Pengiran Haji Ali.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Awangku Jamaluddin bin Pengiran Haji Zainal.

Also present during the event were the heads of departments and heads of schools, PB staff and officers from JAPEM.

It is hoped that the youth participants will be able to use the skills they have gained to become part of a visionary generation.
