THREE students from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam went on their first overseas trip yesterday, thanks to Singapore Airlines’ Overseas Exposure Programme.
Norhazlinah binti Zulkifle, 25, Fatin Zulraini binti Zulkifle, 27, and Nurul Afizah @ Doreen Meng, 19, are accompanied by Hayunni Saduk on their four-day trip to Singapore.
They were given a send-off at the Brunei International Airport by Pusat Ehsan Executive Trustee Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini binti Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin.
All three were selected on the basis of their work habits and poster-making skills during an art competition held in February this year.
Singapore Airlines General Manager (Brunei) Paul Dorai Raj said in an interview, “Singapore Airlines recognises the importance of giving back to the communities that we serve. The selected students had never been on an aircraft and travelled abroad before this, so they really looked forward to the trip.”
While in Singapore, the students will get a chance to explore the sights and sounds of the Lion City’s famous attractions, including a visit to a special needs school.
Raj added, “We are planning to carry out this programme on an annual basis. We chose this flight because we have a bigger aircraft flying in Brunei today – the 777 aircraft.”
The Overseas Exposure Programme to Singapore is supported by two organisations – Accor Hotels and Wildlife Reserves Singapore.
