Her Royal Highness attends table tennis meet

HER Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman attended the opening day of the Brunei National Junior Table Tennis Championship at the Menglait Sports Complex yesterday.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah competed in the round robin stage of the Under-13 Boys’ Singles category in Group ‘B’.

Also present was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah binti Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.

Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim finished third in the six-member group after accumulating a total of six points.

Biken Rai and Yong Zhi Xuan as well as a walkover victory over Sayed Md Al-Rahim bin Sayed Sofri.

His defeats came against Md Nursyaidi Hamzah Md Rizal and Wong Jun Yuan, both of whom occupied the top two spots in the group.

Nevertheless, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim showed a good fight as the only player to take a set off Group ‘B’ winner Wong Jun Yuan in a 2-1 defeat.

The top two players from each group advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament on April 14 where they will play down to a winner.

The tournament saw no shortage of young talents with Under-13 Boys’ defending champion Felix Low Guo Zhang and finalist Chin Fong Bin also involved in this year’s edition.

The tournament also featured categories for Boys’ Under-15, Boys Under-18, Girls’ Under 13-15 Category, Girls’ Under 18-21 Category, Boys’ Under-21, Boys’ Doubles Under-18 and Mixed Doubles Under-21.
