THE Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Islamic Da’wah Centre and the Islamic Studies Department, hosted a one-day programme entitled Mudahnya Sembahyang (Prayer Made Easy) at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital yesterday in conjunction with the National Level Israk Mikraj celebration for 1440 Hijrah.
The guests of honour were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and programme’s committee members were also present.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa led by Muhammad Naqib bin Haji Awang, followed by a warm-up session and a walkathon.
The ensuing activities included a demonstration of prayers according to Mazhab Shafi’e, an Al-Quran clinic and exhibitions from departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as several booths under private companies handling Haj and Umrah.
The programme was aimed at highlighting the obligations of perfecting the ritual prayers, improvement of the methods of worship and the correct way of performing ablutions.
