FOUR Neighbourhood Watch meetings and three crime prevention patrol were conducted in three districts, coordinated by police stations under the Brunei-Muara Police District, Belait Police District and Temburong Police District on Wednesday.
The activities are a united front in continuing to involve the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and local communities in setting up strategies and crime prevention measures.
Members of the Neighbourhood Watch Focal Point Unit of the Kampong Ayer Police Station visited the Kampong Putat Village Head Haji Jumat bin Akim to discuss current affairs and village development.
The Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Central Police Station’s focal point and Brunei-Muara Police District personnel visited Kampong Bengkurong in Mukim Kilanas to present crime prevention measures to villagers.
Assistant Officer-in-Charge of Limau Manis Police Station Inspector Alif Nur Khaliq bin Haji Mat Rasil led a team of police personnel and three Limau Manis Neighbourhood Watch members in patrolling the paddy field of Kampong Limau Manis, Kampong Junjongan and the Kuala Lurah Control Post.
In the Temburong District, Bangar Police Station Focal Point members met with Kampong Lepong Baru Village Head Ambol anak Bakit, who is chairperson of the village’s Neighbourhood Watch. The meeting also saw the presentation of a letter of appointment to the new Neighbourhood Watch members and discussions on Neighbourhood Watch activities.
Bangar Police Station personnel also held a roadblock and crime prevention operation with six members of the Neighbourhood Watch of Kampong Rataie and Rataie National Housing Scheme (RPN) under Mukim Bokok. It was headed by Bangar Police Station Officer-in-Charge ASP Pengiran Anak Haji Azanuddin Aman Shah bin Pengiran Anak Ismail Al-Haj.
Legislative Council member, Penghulu of Mukim Bokok and Advisor to Kampong Bokok Neighbourhood Watch Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Kampong Rataie Village Head Haji Moslim bin Haji Salleh and Kampong Bokok Acting Village Head Abdullah bin Haji Mahmod also participated.
A vehicle was nabbed for violating two offences during the operation at Jalan Kampong Rataie, and a compound fine was issued to the driver.
In the Belait District, Kuala Belait Police Station’s Neighbourhood Watch Focal Point Unit members visited the home of Kampong Mumong Village Head Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Dulamin to share information on the current issues and crimes in the vicinity of the village, as well as to discuss Neighbourhood Watch activities.Meanwhile, the patrol around RPN Kampong Panaga 2000 was carried out by Neighbourhood Watch members, led by Deputy Chairperson Zaleha bin Lahap and four of its members.
Leading the police team were Seria Police Station Officer-in-Charge P/ASP Syed Md Afidzul Azeez bin Sheikh Haji Abu Bakar and Assistant Officer-in-Charge PI Norfaiz bin Bakri.
No suspicious activities were detected in the patrol targetting areas of Jalan Karuak, Jalan Kalajiau, Jalan Taripas, Jalan Puragam and Jalan Parak.
