THE Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) organised the Israk Mikraj celebration at the Digadong Hall of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) building yesterday afternoon.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour.
Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and senior officials were present.
The celebration started with the recitation of Al-Quran verses by Qariah Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazanna binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
This was followed by a special forum on strengthening faith and Islamic belief in prayers where members of the panellists were Haji Md Syahiran bin Haji Md Sofian from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), Ali Shahbana bin Haji Mohsin from the DBP and Dayangku Norizzati binti Pengiran Haji Kasharan.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of memento to the panellists.

THE Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) and its departments held the Israk Mikraj celebration at the surau of the MoFE Building yesterday.
Acting Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, permanent secretaries, department and division heads as well as officers and staff of the MoFE and its departments were also present.
The proceedings began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a special talk by Assistant Lecturer at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Haji Muhammad Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit, before concluding with mass Asar prayer.
The event is one of the annual religious activities of MoFE, which is aimed at remembering and celebrating Israk Mikraj as well as strengthening ties among officers and staff.
This year’s ceremony was organised by the Brunei Investment Agency.

SEVENTY-FOUR education and career counsellors from schools nationwide commemorated the Israk Mikraj with a religious activity at the Islamic Da’wah Centre in Kampong Pulaie yesterday.
Acting Senior Special Duties Officer (Corporate) and Acting Director of Schools, Ministry of Education (MoE) Haji Mohd Sharifuddin bin Haji Mohd Salleh was present.
The religious activity saw the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil as well as a religious talk by Assistant Lecturer at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk. The talk highlighted the link beween the roles and responsibilities of counsellors with the Israk Mikraj celebration.
Apart from recalling the significant date in the Islamic calendar, the event also aimed at instilling spiritual values and for them to take heed of the Israk Mikraj event.
