Gathering, talks to mark Israk Mikraj

PERBADANAN Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (Perbadanan TAIB) yesterday organised a special talk in conjunction with Israk Mikraj.

The talk – titled ‘Indahnya Perpaduan’ or The Beauty of Unity and held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) – touched on the importance of work ethics, and covered the positive attitude, behaviour and responsibilities that come with it.

Invited speaker Acting Head of Special Education Unit at the Ministry of Education Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor delivered the talk.

Perbadanan TAIB said that talk aimed to instil a sense of goodwill and unity among its workforce, to ensure employees are prepared for and can better cope with change.

Perbadanan TAIB Acting Managing Director Hajah Noorrafidah binti Sulaiman attended as guest of honour. Perbadanan TAIB’s management committees, department heads, officers and staff also participated.

Similarly, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) and Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) also jointly organised a religious talk yesterday.

Executive Director of PJSC Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar attended as the guest of honour. The talk was held at PJSC in Jerudong.

The talk titled ‘Menghayati Peristiwa Israk Mikraj’ or ‘Understanding Israk Mikraj’ was delivered by Head of Idarah Division at the Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Asminan bin Haji Chuchu.

PJSC and JPMC said the event hoped to offer an avenue for their officers and staff to spiritually reconnect with the teachings of Islam, and help create stronger bonds between both centres. More than 200 personnel both PJSC and JPMC participated.

Meanwhile, to mark the occasion, Politeknik Brunei (PB) on Thursday held a religious gathering that included the opening of Al-Quran recitation (Tedarus) for the upcoming Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, and a Tahlil for officers and staff.

It was organised by the Islamic Education Unit, Department of Public Studies of PB.

The event was held at its Ong Sum Ping campus and saw Assistant Director of PB Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar as guest of honour.

Heads of departments and schools under the jurisdiction of PB, senior officers, officers, lecturers and staff as well as students’ representative council and students also participated.

This celebration is one of the annual event to glorify the journey of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and in response to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah during the National Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration of 1438 Hijrah, which emphasised that all major Islamic events should be welcomed and glorified as it is part of the Islamic history itself. The event also aimed to instil love for Al-Quran among the PB community.

The event began with Surah Al-Fatihah recitation by the assistant director, followed by the opening of the Quranic reading.

The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Religious Education Officer, Department of General Studies, PB Awangku Haji Jamaludin bin Pengiran Haji Zainal.
