THE Tourism Development Department and Brunei Association of Hotels (BAH) have collaborated with V Plaza and Wafa Hotel and Apartment to coordinate the first pilot hospitality training programme for hotel employee.
Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali officiated the event.
Managing Director of Wafa Hotel Datin Hajah Norayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohammad Nawawi and President of BAH Mohd Iswandi bin Maaruf also attended.
General Manager of V Plaza Tengku Taufik, who is an executive member of the BAH, conducted the programme and shared his skills and experiences in hospitality training with the 35 attendees.
In his remarks, Mohd Iswandi explained that the programme aims to improve hotel services in Brunei Darussalam, as well as provide participants with knowledge and skills necessary to perform job designations in the Food and Beverage, front office and housekeeping.
“The programme provides a basic understanding of each department in the hotel industry. It is also held in preparation for significant events in the tourism industry, including the ASEAN Tourism Forum in January 2020.
“This event will bring 1,700 international delegates to Brunei, therefore, the training is an opportunity for us to learn from some of the experts in this field. It is our sincere wish that your work and your business will reap maximum benefits from this training,” he added.
The hospitality training programme will be held for other hotels in the future.
