SENIOR citizen Damit binti Haji Bustan lost her Kampong Bebuloh home to a fire recently. The house was home to nine people.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) through the Community Development Department yesterday presented government assistance to ease their burden.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented the donation to the victims.
Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Saidahbinti Haji Wahid @ Burut, Director of Community Development Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir and ministerial officials attended the event at the MCYS.
Meanwhile, the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah also extended a helping hand to fire victims on Friday.
Yayasan handed over basic food necessities to two families affected by the blaze at Kampong Panchor Mengkubau National Housing Scheme on April 12. Heads of families Norlela binti Haji Mejenis and Qahirah Khalidah binti Khalid received the donations from Yayasan Assistant Managing Director Haji Puasa bin Haji Jumat.
