THE 9th Navy Day Regatta held at the Royal Malaysian Navy Yacht Club in Kota Kinabalu saw two invited Brunei sailors bagging gold and bronze medals in the sailing competition. The two-day event started on April 12.
Muhammad Fadzlin bin Hassan claimed top position in the Laser Standard category, while Nasiruddin bin Harun secured third place in the Laser Radial class.
Both sailors represented the Brunei Darussalam Yachting Association.
This event saw 60 sailors from the Kinabalu Yacht Club, Sandakan Yacht Club and Tawau Yacht Club participating in this regatta.
Sabah Sports Minister Datuk Poon Ming Fung and Sabah Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry Azhar bin Datuk Haji Matussin were the guests of honour at the closing ceremony. Admiral of Eastern Fleet Laksamana Madya Datuk Abdul Rahman bin Ayob and Navy First Admiral cum Commodore of the Navy Yacht Syed Ahmad Hilmi bin Syed Abdullah also attended.
It was the first ever Brunei participation in the Navy Day Regatta.
