DST wraps up ‘Ihsan Kasih’ in Brunei-Muara

DST had spread some Hari Raya cheers to more 1,200 special needs individuals from the Brunei-Muara yesterday with the final “Ihsan Kasih” Hari Raya celebrations held at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

Among the guests invited were special needs individuals registered under Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Pusat Bahagia, Learning Ladders Society, Smarter Brunei, the Centre for Children with Specials Needs (KACA) and Special Education Unit (SEU) under the Ministry of Education.

After the festivities on Friday, July 22 in Temburong and Friday July 29 in Tutong and Belait, the four-district festivities ended in the Brunei-Muara District. In total, DST joyfully celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri together with over 2,000 individuals in Brunei-Muara, Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts.

Present as guest of honour for the event was Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of DST.

Also in attendance were Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Director of the Department of Community Development (JAPEM); Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, Managing Director of KACA; Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Policy and Planning Trustee, Board of Trustees of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam; Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, President of SMARTER Brunei; Dr Sharina binti Haji Yunus, President of Learning Ladders Society; and Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Gapor, Acting Head of Special Education Unit under the Ministry of Education.

Elixsurian bin Haji Busu, DST’s Manager of Group Corporate Communications, said, “As a company we are fully supportive in contributing aid to support special needs individuals. To note a few, we have on-going contribution projects such as projects with the SEU and SMARTER Brunei. We are also proud to be one of the companies in Brunei recognised for supporting special needs individuals in their careers, providing employment opportunities at DST.”

The highlight of all the festivities included special performances by the children from the various centres. Another joyful highlight of the event was the appearance of various mascots, where guests especially the children had the opportunity to take photos with their favourite characters.

The last activity of the event was the distribution of green packets from DST, presented by members of DST’s senior management to the children accompanied by their parents and guardians.
