THE Sharks Rugby Club UBD (Universiti Brunei Darussalam) yesterday organised a rugby tournament carrying the Hari Raya theme ‘The Touch of Aidilfitri’.
A total of 16 teams took part in the tournament, comprising of eight male teams and eight female teams.
The tournament was divided into four categories – the IPT Male category, IPT Female category, Open Male category and Open Female category.
The IPT Male Category was won by Lions PTE Meragang, while the IPT Female Category was won by Mako Sharks.
The Open Male category was won by Vipers Berghh, and the Open Female category was won by Mud Sharks.
Prizes were presented by the Co-curriculum Officer of Students Affairs at UBD, Awang Domingo Kapal, as well as the Sports and Logistics Executive, UBD Guild of Graduates, Syahwal Nizam bin Haji Yani, and also the President of Sharks Rugby UBD, Ghazi bin Jomari.

One of the tournament’s objectives was to strengthen relations among rugby clubs in Brunei.
It was also held to encourage and inculcate a spirit of sportsmanship amongst tertiary academic institutions in the Sultanate and society at large.
Additionally, the tournament was an initiative of Sharks Rugby Club UBD to answer the call to fight obesity in the country.
