MORE than 250 prospective Haj pilgrims under Darussalam Holdings attended a special talk at the Arts and Handicrafts Centre yesterday, in preparation for their journey to Makkah next month.
Present as the guest of honour was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB).
Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and a member of the Board of Directors of Darussalam Holdings, was also present to give the pilgrims a briefing on the importance of self-management for an unproblematic and successful Haj.
He told the assembled gathering that proper self-management, and cooperation with the relevant authorities, would allow the pilgrims to perform their religious duties at the holy sites with perfect ease.
Haji Harun also reminded the pilgrims to engage in beneficial activities, while maintaining their physical health, as advised by the medical authorities.

To prepare the pilgrims physically and mentally, the Department of Haj Management under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), together with Darussalam Holdings, are constantly providing them with guidance classes on self-efficiency and health.
The session continued with a special lecture delivered by Dr Ustaz Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, Director of the Core Knowledge Centre at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
Also speaking at the event was Haji Mahmud bin Haji Mohamed, the Managing Director of Darussalam Holdings, who said that the management will be sending 10 Haj officers and eight guides, to assist the pilgrims throughout their journey.
