Normally bustling with people, the streets in the capital were almost empty yesterday, following the restriction on vendors for Bandarku Ceria.
Azmi bin Ibrahim, 34, who was out for a brisk walk with his family, told the Bulletin, “The foot traffic was much lighter than usual. It was much livelier last week.
“It’s a bit disheartening that there are no vendors, because we would normally buy snacks and drinks from them after our activities. Still, it’s good to be out again and get some fresh air with my family.”
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) recently announced the Bandarku Ceria programme would be limited to individual leisure activities, with vendors temporarily barred from doing business until further notice.
The announcement was made after a monitoring conducted by the authorities during the re-opening of Bandarku Ceria on June 7, and upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Health (MoH) in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam.
