A Chinese woman lost her life in a car accident after she reportedly lost control of the vehicle along the Seria-Lumut Highway yesterday.
The permanent resident’s vehicle struck an electric pole at the side of the road and crashed along the highway.
The Royal Brunei Police Force received an emergency call at 8.05am.
Initial investigations revealed that the area experienced heavy rain at the time of the accident. Further investigations are being conducted.
The victim was rushed to the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait, but was pronounced dead as a result of serious injuries to the head.
Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Department in a statement revealed that eight firefighters and two fire engines from Seria Fire Station rushed to the scene of the accident.
Led by SO Haji Abdulatif bin Haji Bandar, the firefighters found the vehicle crashed on an electric pole. The victim was removed using a special equipment and handed to the paramedics.
The Royal Brunei Police Force has reminded road users and motorists to always drive under the speed limit and take extra precautions during heavy rain.
