Maktab Duli victor in ‘Tuturan Pelajar’ competition

DULI Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli) yesterday emerged as champions in the finals of the ‘Tuturan Pelajar’ forum competition in Bahasa Melayu for pre-university and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) 2016, which was held at Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB).

Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTE Tutong) was placed second. The award for ‘Pengerusi Terbaik’ went to Muhammad Rabbani @ Muhammad Suhaib bin Ramli, while the ‘Panel Terbaik’ was awarded to Awangku Md Hazim Firdaus bin Pengiran Hamdani.

RTB Director cum guest of honour Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu presented the prizes to the winners.

In his speech, event chairman Haji Azis bin Haji Nayan, who is also the Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education, Department of Co-Curriculum Education, underlined the importance of mastering and utilising the Malay language, especially among students.

The building of a student’s self-confidence and training to speak/express thoughts publicly are important aspects that can be achieved through the competition, the chairman explained.

He believes the competition serves as the infrastructure to shape a visionary generation that is articulate and knowledgeable.

Five teams participated in the preliminary rounds.

Forum members included three panellists and a chairman guided by two teachers.
