TO CULTIVATE Brunei’s growing underwater photography community, while at the same time contributing towards a charitable cause, Poni Divers in partnership with Inon Japan and Zul Ng from the Art of Luminance, Singapore are welcoming beginner and advanced photographers to take part in the first Underwater (UW) Shutterbug Competition 2016.

In light of the contest, a free seminar was held at The Collective Arts Studio last night, where enthusiasts were briefed by Zul Ng on how to become an UW photographer, the equipment needed to start, basic tips of good photo-taking, the qualities of an excellent UW photo, how to win such competitions, how to get published and so forth.

This was followed by an Inon product presentation by Takuya Torii from Inon Japan, as well as another briefing on the contest by Wong Thye Sing, the Managing Director of Poni Divers.

For the Underwater Photo Competition ‘A’, with its focus on the theme ‘Best of Brunei’, participants are allowed to submit up to three UW photos of Brunei waters taken at any time.

The first prize will be an Inon Z-240 Strobe with Optical D Cable Type L and Double Hole Rubber Bush Set and Z Adapter MV (valued at $1,000), while runners-up will receive $300 Poni cash vouchers.

For the Underwater Photo Competition ‘B’, photos are to be taken during the local shootout dates (August 20-24), when participants will join Zul Ng, Wong Thye Sing and Takuya Torii onboard to capture award-winning shots with tips from the pros.
