FRIENDS and families bade farewell yesterday to the second batch of intending Haj pilgrims, who departed the Brunei International Airport at 12pm onboard Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) flight BI4203, which was expected to reach Madinah at 4.32pm (Madinah time).
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof in his capacity as the Chairman of the Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) Board of Directors, were also present to send off the pilgrims, as were Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Hisham bin Abdul Wahab bin Zar’ah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Harun bin Haji Junid and Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah.
To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was read by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murat, while the call to the Azan was carried out by Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Md Salleh.
The second flight of intending pilgrims were also accompanied by officers from the Medical Unit of Haj Management, as well as Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd as the Haj service package operator.
