RHB Bank Berhad Brunei yesterday organised a community activity with Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei Centre located in Kampong Perpindahan Mata- Mata, Gadong.
The activity was held in conjunction with RHB Banking Group’s ‘Community Weekend 2016,’ a first of its kind for the group, which saw the mobilisation of all 14,825 RHB personnel performing, in a single weekend, various acts of kindness and charity locally and across the region.
Photos of the Community Weekend 2016 activities can be viewed on Instagram with the hashtag – #RHBtouchhearts.
“In our busy and hectic schedule in pursuing our life’s achievement, we sometimes forget that there are those who are less fortunate.
“With the theme ‘Nurturing Future Generations’, RHB Bank Brunei has chosen to conduct activities with SMARTER Centre kids to reflect the group’s commitment in giving back to the community, especially the younger generation, and helping them in a fun and meaningful way,” said Haji Ishak Othman, the Country Head of RHB Bank Brunei.
“This is also in line with RHB Group’s new brand promise, ‘Together We Progress,’ where nurturing future generations is one of our pillars in cherishing the potential of today’s youth and empowering them for a sustainable and better tomorrow.
“A financial institution can play its role to be an “inclusive platform” to bring all walks of life together, including the unfortunates and it is a touching moment to see the kids, despite their challenges, showing their inner strength in playing their part in community,” he added.
The day also saw the presentation of donations in the form of office supplies and stationeries to Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, CEO and President of SMARTER Brunei, as well as a personal contribution made by RHB Brunei personnel in the form of toys and reading materials for the children. Following this, the bank staff mingled and engaged in activities with the 50 SMARTER Centre children.
Haji Ishak expressed hopes similar activities will be organised more frequently in the future. For the RHB Brunei branch, this is a beginning of a new frontier to send a message to the public on the bank’s presence here in the Sultanate.
