Senior citizens association marks first anniversary

Wargamas, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that aims to unite all senior citizens in the country to contribute and support the development, well-being and progress of the nation, celebrated its first anniversary of establishment at the Vanda Restaurant of
Mulia Hotel yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour in his capacity as Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Wargamas President Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh bin Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin conveyed his appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Development (MoD) in giving permission to use a bungalow as Wargamas’ headquarters.

He said that the number of members in Wargamas is rising daily and has reached nearly 800.

On the future plan of the organisation, he said, “The election of new executive members for Wargamas is expected to take place in January 2021. It is hoped that by then, the members will increase to 2,000.”
