The Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management (CIBFM) with support from Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam and in association with Malaysia’s Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) recently organised a three-day virtual Boards’ Executive Education (BEE) programme.

Following the popularity of last year’s programme, this second instalment themed “Enhancing Board Performance” attracted a diverse audience comprising members of boards, corporate secretaries, chief executive officers and other C-Suite executives to experience a virtual hybrid programme of workshops and forums.

The event also featured local and international experts sharing experiences, practices and strategies for success, such as Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) Assistant Managing Director Ahmad Jefri bin Abdul Rahman, BPA Australasia Director Chris Bennett, Shariah Board Member of CS Financial in Malaysia Dr Aznan Hassan and Permodalan Nasional Berhad Independent Director Dato’ Dr Nik Ramlah Nik Mahmood.

Participants attended workshops on topics such as “Corporate Governance and the Independent Non-Executive Director”, “Business Strategy and the Agile Board” and “Shariah Governance” as well as forums on the subjects of “Corporate Governance 2020”, “Independent Director: The Missing Piece?” and “Strategy: Agile Board Leadership”.

“The BEE programme is one of the many events and initiatives organised by the CIBFM to fulfil the role of developing the human capacity of Brunei Darussalam as the centre of excellence for the finance industry,” said the agency in a statement.
