Religious events mark 1442 Hijrah New Year

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports marked 1442 Hijrah New Year celebration at the PM Sarifuddin Hall of the National Archives Building.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Fuad. It was followed by the recitation of verses from Al-Quran by Religious Development Assistant at the Youth Development Centre Muhammad Khaizuran Amali bin Haji Kamsani with translation by Library Assistant Grade I of the Language and Literature Bureau Ali Shahbana bin Haji Mohsin.

Haji Awang Muhammad Naqib bin Haji Awang from the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) gave a talk on ‘Generasi Berilmu, Beramal dan Berakhlak Memacu Pembangunan Umat’.

The Islamic Religious Body (BUI) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) organised a Ma’al Hijrah Forum at the Surau of the Gadong Police Headquarters yesterday.

The talk on ‘Islam and the COVID-19 Pandemic, New Normal and Muslims’ was held in conjunction with Ma’al Hijrah 1442 celebration.

Commissioner of the RBPF Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali was the guest of honour at the event attended by 120 officers and personnel. Deputy Commissioner of the RBPF Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohd Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid, senior officers, officers, personnel and civilian staff were also present. The two panellists at the talk were Dr Hambali bin Haji Jaili from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Norhayati binti Haji Abdul Rahman from the Islamic Da’wah Centre. Imam of the Gadong Police Headquarters Surau APO Sergeant Mohd Yusri bin Haji Abu Bakar was the chairman of the forum.

The event began with the recitation of Doa Selamat led by Imam of the Gadong Police Headquarters Surau Lance Corporal Ahmad Zawawi bin Pengarah Haji Ibrahim followed by the forum. There was a question-and-answer session as well as souvenir presentation for the panellists.

The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.

Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan

Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) organised a talk to mark 1442 Hijrah New Year at Tarbiyah Hall.

KUPU SB Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar was the guest of honour. It began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Asma al-Husna followed by the singing of the national anthem and welcoming remarks by chairperson of the organising committee Muhammad Noor Asymawi bin Asli.

Yesterday’s ceremony also saw the finals of the Hayya bi ad-da’wah competition where Year 1 undergraduate in Religious Teaching Muhammad Zawawi @ Muhammad Syahmi bin Haji Abdul Majid won for his talk on Dakwah Rasulullah.

The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Doa Khas by Head of Religious and Takmir Surau Exco Ahmad Naufal Azizi bin Mohammad Norisham.

Acting Deputy Ra’es Dr Abang Haji Hadzmin bin Haji Abang Taha and Acting Assistant Ra’es Datin Dr Hajah Noor Hira binti Haji Noor Kaseh were also present.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a religious talk to mark the 1442 Hijrah New Year at the Senate Room of the Chancellor Hall yesterday.

In keeping with health guidelines, only 30 lecturers, officers and staff, 50 students and 20 people from the event committees were present. The organisers also live-streamed the event.

Vice-Chancellor of UBD Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz was the guest of honour.

Politeknik Brunei held a religious ceremony to mark the 1442 Hijrah New Year at its main campus in Jalan Ong Sum Ping yesterday.

Acting Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar was the guest of honour. Department and school heads, lecturers as well as officers and staff of the institution were also present.

A recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah started the ceremony.

It was followed by a talk on ‘Taqarrub Ilallah’ by lecturer at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Pengiran Dr Hajah Nur Ashikin binti Pengiran Haji Petra.

The talk touched on reponsibilities, interactions with other people and the need to embrace Allah the Almighty.
