Two hikers who lost their way on the Bukit Tempayan Pisang trail in Kampong Kapok were found on Monday evening.
Ten personnel from the Muara and Rimba fire stations were called to the area at 6.28pm after the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) received an alert.
Led by Junaidi bin Haji Labai from the Operation ‘A’ Branch of the Muara Fire Station and Hasanuddin from the Support Squad under the Operation ‘C’ Branch of the Rimba Fire Station, the crew located the hikers on Bukit Birut at 7.40pm some five kilometres from the car park.
No one was injured.
Hikers are advised to remember safety tips, such as being aware of their surroundings while on the trail. Hikers should also avoid going alone, hiking in bad weather conditions and after 6pm.
Hikers should inform friends and relatives of their plans before heading off on the trail. They should bring along a whistle, a mobile phone and adequate water, in case of an emergency.
For search-and-rescue emergencies, contact the FRD at 995.
