His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Sultan’s Scholar 2020-2021 scholarship award to three recipients during a ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Also in attendance at the event were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
The three students are Awangku Muhammad Asyraff Haziq Iman bin Pengiran Asmali, Siti Aisyah binti Salim and A’isyah binti Muhamad Yusop who will be furthering their studies in their respective fields at leading universities in Egypt and the United Kingdom.
Awangku Muhammad Asyraff Haziq Iman, a graduate of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College will continue his studies in MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University College London in the United Kingdom. Siti Aisyah, a graduate of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah will be pursuing a degree course in Takhassus Al-Quran Wal Qiraat at Ma’had Qiraat, Al-Azhar, Shoubra in Egypt, while A’isyah, a graduate of Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School will further her studies in the field of Syariah Wa Qanun at Al-Azhar University, Egypt.
A Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
His Majesty also had a get-together session with the recipients along with their parents and guests, followed by a group photo session.
Members of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Chairman and members of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors, members of the Sultan’s Scholar Award Scheme Steering Committee and principals from sixth form institutions across the country were also present.
