The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) celebrated the Ma’al Hijrah 1442 yesterday. Organised by the Labour Department, it was held at Tripartite Hall of the department.
Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong was the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a talk on Penghijrahan dan Mengambil Pengajaran dari COVID-19 by Director of the Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Harapandi Amaq Hairani. He gave a definition of Hijrah and shared lessons that can be learned from during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is part of the ministry’s annual religious activities to celebrate major Islamic events, strengthen faith among members of the ministry and provide deeper understanding of their duties and responsibilities.
The event was also held to strengthen ties among the officers and staff of the ministry and seek blessings and forgiveness from Allah the Almighty.
Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo), acting permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary, heads of departments, officers and staff were also present.
