Unite as one, Politeknik Brunei students told

Politeknik Brunei will always support every activities benefitting students, especially religious activities, Acting Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar said.

He was speaking as the guest of honour at a ceremony where 32 Politeknik Brunei students were officially appointed yesterday as new members of the Politeknik Brunei Student Representative Council (MPP) 2020/2021 during the dissolution ceremony for the Politeknik Brunei MPP 2019/2020 and appointment ceremony for the Politeknik Brunei MPP 2020/2021 at the Mock Hotel of the Politeknik Brunei Main Campus in Ong Sum Ping.

“Unite as one group that has a strong bond, trust amongst each other and, most importantly, accept trials and challenges together,” said the acting director.

Alias said as the 32 new appointed members are combined from all four schools under Politeknik Brunei, more responsibilities and tasks given can be carried out with commitment as well as care and proactiveness.

The dissolution ceremony for the Politeknik Brunei MPP 2019/2020 was held to handover tasks and responsibilities to the new Politeknik Brunei MPP 2020/2021.

Thirty student representatives of 2019/2020 including Mohd Azhar bin Haji Mohd Khir – an eighth intake student officially appointed as the President of the Politeknik Brunei MPP 2019/2020 on May 16, 2019, at the International Convention Centre (ICC), handed over the tasks and responsibilities to the new MPPs.

Mohd Azhar handed over his tasks to the new MPP President Mohd Iqbal Hisyamuddin bin Ibrahim, a student from the ninth intake.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a speech by the guest of honour thanking previous MPP members for their commitment. He also congratulated the newly appointed members.

The event continued with a speech by the MPP President 2019/2020, along with an agreement signing session for the handing over and receiving of tasks, and a speech by the new MPP President 2020/2021.

A video preview of the MPP 2019/2020 and oath recitation by the new MPP 2020/2021 were also held.

The registrar, head of departments and schools as well as Politeknik Brunei lecturers were also present.

Among the functions of the MPP’s establishment is as the voice of students in sharing all the suggestions and problems encountered, as well as to coordinate and implement activities or programmes that are beneficial as well as able to develop student identity, including the necessary skills.
