The Royal Brunei Navy’s (RBN) vessel Kapal Diraja Brunei (KDB) Darulehsan marked a special juncture in history with the launching of its MM40 BII EXOCET Missile at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Hawaii, in the Live Firing Event ‘Sinking Exercise’ (SINKEX) serial while participating in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2020 Exercise.

KDB Darulehsan has now successfully achieved full operational capability in all aspects following the triumph of her sister ships KDB Darussalam and KDB Darulaman for missiles firing in the RIMPAC 2014 Exercise.

RBN officers and crew’s hard work during the preparation and execution of the RIMPAC 2020 contributed to the success of SINKEX firing on August 29, 2020 at 5.29pm (August 30 at 11.29pm Brunei time).

This is another significant accomplishment to KDB Darulehsan’s operational capability and marks another milestone for the RBN.

RIMPAC is the world’s largest international maritime exercise hosted by the United States Navy. This year’s RIMPAC, held from August 17-31 around the Hawaiian Islands, included 20 ships from 10 countries and focussed at-sea-only event to reduce the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic.

RIMPAC depicts defence diplomacy essentially to enhance interoperability among world navies to promote stability in the region to the benefit of all participating nations. KDB Darulehsan departed Hawaii on September 4 and is scheduled to arrive in Muara Naval Base on September 25.
