Members of the Women’s Bureau of Mukim Lumapas Consultative Council visited Seri Tanjung Tourist Activity Centre of the Kampong Sungai Bunga Village Consultative Council as part of the bureau’s aim of strengthening ties between members of mukim and village consultative councils.

Led by Chairperson Hajah Hammah binti Puasa, the 51-member delegation was welcomed by Acting Village Head of Kampong Sungai Bunga Zaini bin Haji Salleh, who later briefed the visitors on the background of the village.

He said the village is known for its fish, prawn and smoked fish crackers as well as kuih sapit and pais. There is also a homestay programme for tourists to spend a night at the village, he added.

Meanwhile, the visit provided a platform for the women’s bureaus of the two consultative councils to exchange ideas and experiences regarding the promotion of products distinct to their regions.

According to Hajah Hammah, several projects are in the pipeline to empower the residents of Mukim Lumapas to turn their products into a source of income by extending the presence of the products nationwide.

Among the activities lined up for the visitors was a demonstration on how some of their food products are processed, such as kuih sapit bakar and prawn crackers.
