Agreement looks to strengthen local workforce

Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) officiated an agreement with the Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) under the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) at a signing ceremony at Serambi Suluh, Tarindak D’Seni on Thursday.

Under this agreement, BGC will provide experienced BGC marine officers and deck ratings as adjunct lecturers at the Brunei Maritime Academy as part of its commitment to strengthen the local workforce to fill employment and key positions in the maritime industry.

The scheme will also provide BGC officers and crew the opportunity to explore outside their seafaring careers and assist them in developing leadership attributes.

The provision of adjunct lecturers will be on a rotational basis and is expected to begin in January 2021.

Present as signatories for the agreement were BGC Managing Director Pengiran Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, IBTE Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Haji Mohammad Zamri bin Haji Sabli, IBTE Acting Principal of Satellite Campus Dr Suhaimi bin Haji Abdul Wahab and BGC People Manager Md Khairol Amilin bin Haji Maidin.
