Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin yesterday participated in games and activities at the Open Day for Pusat Bahagia Tutong, in observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2020.
Around 300 Pusat Bahagia trainees from all districts attended the event, which aimed at fostering different ability inclusiveness and shaping a positive view of persons with different abilities (OKU).
Community Development Department (JAPEM) Acting Director Pengiran Siti Rahmah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh said, “International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated annually on December 3, and Brunei Darussalam is no exception in marking this special day, as an appreciation and celebration of the participation, development and accomplishments of persons with different abilities in the community, while also raising important issues related to OKU.
“Ten activities have been planned for the celebration, with seven under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), through the Community Development Department. Meanwhile, the remaining three will be organised by the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei, Elfera Health and Nursing Care Sdn Bhd and Persatuan Yuth Co.”
Also present were Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Saidah binti Haji Wahid; and officials from Pusat Bahagia and the MCYS.
The minister presided over the launch of a new greenhouse of Pusat Bahagia Tutong, sponsored by Golden Cooperation Sdn Bhd. He toured the facilities of Pusat Bahagia Tutong, and interacted with the trainees.
