For the past few years, Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) Board members and the RB management team made a conscious decision to focus on service and ethos, paired with warm Bruneian hospitality, as a core part of their corporate strategy.

This was disclosed by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, in his capacity as Chairman of the RB Board of Directors, during the RB Cabin Crew Appreciation Ceremony at the Royal Berkshire Hall of the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, on Saturday.

The minister also noted that RB’s cabin crew and cabin services team “are a great ambassador for the country, carrying the embodiment of our Bruneian culture of warm hospitality at the heart of what they do.

“In your heritage-inspired RB uniform, RB guests have come to recognise you as someone they may rely on, to feel welcome on board and exceeding their expectations in all things you do. This is an excellent example of how your hard work has brought national pride for many of us.

“Standards of the highest quality are what we envision for all RB guests to experience whenever they fly with the airline. The same standards also apply to our cabin crew as they adapt through the challenging time, which will continue to affect the aviation industry severely in the coming years.

“But there is wisdom in all things, and this reduction in flying time has opened up the opportunity to place more focus on building other skills and widening experiences”.

The minister extended his appreciation to the cabin crew members who volunteered their time for the Brunei Youth Volunteers, in support of the national efforts against COVID-19, while working tirelessly on repatriation flights in assisting families to reunite, students to return home and many others on essential travel journeys.

“Moreover, the completion of intensive training for their seconded crew as Patient Associates for Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) shows the exemplary resilience and adaptability shown; and more secondment programmes are in the pipeline offering more windows of opportunity to try some new areas and gain valuable knowledge from the experience,” he said.

“Since then,” the minister said, “RB’s transformation as the national airline has undergone many positive developments from their fleet modernisation programme, Destination Marketing with spotlight on the attractions of Brunei, network growth to enable connectivity, improved infrastructure, unparalleled guest experience, and their people’s development.

“All these have created a significant impact on the way RB operates, resulting in the high quality we deliver, value proposition in the market and a well-respected full-service airline. As a shareholder, we have envisioned for RB to harmonise its corporate objectives in line with Brunei Vision 2035 to help build a dynamic and sustainable economy, and support the aspirations of the Brunei Tourism Board.”
