A nurse of 17 years, Hajah Sabariah binti Haji Mohd Yusof while thanking Allah the Almighty for her win at Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD) Aspirasi 2 campaign, said she will first spend the winning on donations to seek blessings and use some of the cash for Haj pilgrimage with her family.
Hajah Sabariah who plans to save the rest for her children’s future use, called on the public save with BIBD as it is worth the participation regardless if they win or not, as investment is beneficial for their future.
BIBD yesterday awarded a life-changing grand prize of BND250,000 at the BIBD Aspirasi 2 Rewards Campaign Grand Prize Presentation ceremony at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and Chairman of BIBD’s Board of Directors Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah presented the prizes.
Five quarterly winners also walked away with BND10,000 while 35 monthly winners were rewarded with BND1,000 each.
BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO Mubashar Khokhar said when the bank started the Aspirasi programme two years ago, it wanted to instil a savings culture among its clients by providing them with a convenient means of saving consistently.

“Alhamdulillah, the positive response to this campaign indicates that subscribers of this programme understand that savings can be financially rewarding. The number of Aspirasi subscribers has doubled since last year, and we hope this trend will continue into the next cycle of Aspirasi,” he added.
BIBD’s Aspirasi 2 Rewards Campaign Programme has awarded a total of 441 winners with cash prizes as part of the monthly, quarterly and grand draws.
Yesterday’s event also coincided with the official launch of Aspirasi 3 by the guest of honour.
BIBD’s Head of Product Engineering Retail Banking Group Wan Hefnie bin Haji Hamidon in a press conference said Aspirasi 3 started on December 1 and will continue until November 30, 2021.
Deputy Head of Product Engineering and Retail Banking Group Lim Pea Chia said Aspirasi 3 comes with a lower entry requirement. The minimum deposit is now BND50 instead of BND250 for Aspirasi 2. The maximum deposit for Aspirasi also increased to BND250,000.
“In the spirit of rewarding customers to stay with the Aspirasi programme, we want to reward those who have been since Aspirasi 1. Every BND50 gets one lucky draw entry, but if you hold your Aspirasi for 181 days to 270 days, your entries will be multiplied by two and those holding for 271 days and more, the entries will be tripled,” she said.
She noted that there are two conditions that customers need to meet. First is they have to hold the minimum deposit of BND50 for the entire reward programme and the second is a minimum holding period of 90 days.
The profit rate for Aspirasi 3 will still be 0.2 per cent per annum. For customers to receive their annual profit payments, they have to hold a minimum period of 180 days and 0.2 per cent is a higher profit rate compared to other savings product.
The first draw of Aspirasi 3 will be on January 2021. Customers can use Aspirasi as a collateral of security to secure credit card or overdraft facilities.
Product Engineering and Retail Banking Group Muhammad Zharif bin Haji Sabli was also present at the press conference.
