Brunei Darussalam’s contingent under the 16th International Monitoring Team (IMT-16) returned to the country after completing their tour of duty in Mindanao, the Philippines for 14 months.
A welcoming ceremony for the eight Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel and one from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mutalip bin Bujang was held at the Multi-purpose Hall, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
RBAF Joint Force Commander Brigadier General Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir was the guest of honour.
The IMT-16 members received medals from the government of the Philippines for maintaining peace among the people of Mindanao.
Chief of Staff 6 ID AFP Brigadier General Jose H Narciso presented the medals at 6 ID HQ Camp Siongco Maguindanao on November 10.
Prior to the contingent’s flight home, a handover ceremony between the 16th IMT and 17th IMT was held on November 11 at the Team Site 1 Headquarters, Cotabato City, Mindanao.
Head of Mission IMT M-16 Major General Dato’ Haji Muhammad Anwar bin Abdullah witnessed the event.
